About this Cause

We envision a Democratic Republic of Congo where all human potential is given the opportunity to create thriving and just communities. Congo Initiative (CI) equips and educates change-makers who model transformation by holistically renewing communities and promoting systemic justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our core catalyst of change is Congo Initiative Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo/Christian Bilingual University of Congo (CI-UCBC) and its community engagement initiatives. Launched in 2007, we aim to pioneer an educational model that is student-centered, contextually relevant, technologically advanced, faith inspired, and committed to serving the common good. CI-UCBC goes beyond equipping students by engaging the wider community–reaching those most impacted by poverty and insecurity, particularly women and children. This work includes primary education, vocational and literacy training, pro bono legal services, and counseling.
